The Orlando Pirates have made significant moves in the January transfer window, bolstering their team for the upcoming half of the DStv Premiership season. This strategic decision includes the addition of two new players, Thabiso Lebitso and Thalente Mbatha, from Chippa United and SuperSport United, respectively.

Alongside these promising signings, the club has bid farewell to Eva Nga, while welcoming back Tshegofatso Mabasa from his loan.
Thabiso Lebitso and Thalente Mbatha Join Orlando Pirates
The Pirates’ roster has been strengthened with the inclusion of 31-year-old Thabiso Lebitso and Thalente Mbatha. Lebitso, joining from Chippa United, has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Orlando Pirates.

His arrival is seen as a crucial addition to the team’s strategy. “Joining Orlando Pirates is a significant milestone in my career, and I’m eager to make a meaningful contribution to the team’s success,” expressed Lebitso.

Concurrently, Thalente Mbatha, formerly with Matsatsantsa since 2020, has joined the Sea Robbers on an initial six-month loan, with an option for a permanent move. Excited about his new chapter, Mbatha stated, “I’m thrilled to be here and can’t wait to start playing. I see this as a golden opportunity and intend to make the most of it.”
Strategic Departures and Returns
In addition to these acquisitions, the Orlando Pirates confirmed Tshegofatso Mabasa’s return following his loan period at Moroka Swallows. This return coincides with the departure of Cameroonian forward Eva Nga, who joined the club in June 2022 from Chippa but struggled to secure a regular position.

“As we bid farewell to Nga, we welcome back a familiar face in Tshegofatso Mabasa who re-joins the Club after his loan spell at Moroka Swallows came to an end,” the club announced.
