Orlando Pirates veteran tipped to join Spurs in ‘rescue mission’

Cape Town Spurs are reportedly interested in signing veteran Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontshane.

The Cape outfit have found the going tough in the DStv Premiership this season after earning promotion via the playoffs.

Spurs sit rock bottom of the log standings with just four points from 16 matches. According to the latest reports, Ernst Middendorp is looking to sign Mpontshane in a bid to bring some stability to his defence.

“The team has set their targets for January. They want to mainly strengthen their defence and goalkeeping department and Mpontshane is on top of the list of the players they want to bring in.” a source told SoccerLaduma.

“The technical team feels that the side can still fight relegation as long as they can tighten the defence hence they are starting with the defence.”
