‘Outlaws’ star Nirvana Nokwe-Mseleku lands role in ‘Red Ink’

Outlaws actress Nirvana Nokwe-Mseleku has scored a role in Showmax’s eight-part thriller titled Red Ink.

The singer and actress who played Sihle Biyela in Outlaws stars alongside Scandal! actresses Lorcia Cooper and Nqobile Nunu Khumalo.

Other actors include Bongile Mantsai (Inxeba: The Wound), and Jo-Anne Reyneke (Black Tax) and Tsholofelo Maseko (Intersexions).

Red Ink is a novel turned series by Angela Makholwa who introduced journalist turned publicist Lucy Khambule, who is approached by a serial killer.

According to Showmax, Makholwa adapted her bestseller into an eight-part Showmax Original series. The thriller launched on 12 February, with SAFTA nominee Nqobile Nunu Khumalo (Nqobile, The Herd) playing Lucy and SAFTA winner Bonko Khoza (Mqhele in The Wife) as The Butcher.

BACKGROUND OF ‘OUTLAWS’ ACTRESS

Zimoja reports that the Outlaws actress Nirvana Nokwe-Mseleku is the daughter of legendary singers, Bheki Mseleku and Tu Nokwe.

Nokwe-Mseleku, who is described as showbiz royalty is also the niece of Mango Groove vocalist Marilyn Nokwe and her grandparents are Durban thespian Alfred Nokwe and opera singer Patty Masuku.

The publication adds that Nirvana began her singing professionally when she was just four years old with legendary musicians Busi Mhlongo and Bra Hugh Masekela.

She portrayed a role of Mbali in the International Emmy-nominated crime series Reyka, alongside actors Kim Engelbrecht, and Thando Thabethe before appearing in Outlaws.
