Paltu Ram, chameleon: How INDI alliance partners reacted to Nitish Kumar’s resignation

Ending all speculations, Nitish Kumar today tendered his resignation as Bihar Chief Minister. Soon after many INDI alliance partners came out in the open severely criticising the JD(U) leader.

On the resignation of Nitish Kumar as the CM of Bihar, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge said, ” Bihar Dy CM (Tejashwi Yadav) and Lalu Prasad Yadav had hinted regarding this and today it became true. ‘Aise desh mein bahut saare log hein, aaya ram gaya ram.”

The grand old party also compared Kumar to a ‘chameleon’

Congress said people of the state will never forgive Nitish Kumar’s betrayal. The party further said that PM Modi and the BJP are scared of Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra and the Bihar political drama was created to divert attention from it.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) slammed Kumar for ditching the Mahagatbandhan. Party leader, Priyanka Chaturvedi in a tweet, shared Nitish Kumar’s earlier statement in which he had said, “Dying is acceptable, going with them is not acceptable. Know this well!”

In the same tweet, she also shared some of the earlier terms Amit Shah had used to describe Kumar such as “Palturam has insulted the mandate”,“Hey Paltu Babu, please be considerate”, “I pray to Chhath Maiya that Bihar be free from Paltu Ram”, and “BJP’s doors closed for Nitish Kumar”.Meanwhile reacting to Kumar’s resignation, Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal while there was talk of Ram Rajya at the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya, “Aaya Ram Gaya Ram” was being showcased in Bihar.

In a post on X, Sibal said, “Ayodhya, Bihar. Talk of: Ram Rajya at Ayodhya and showcase ‘Aaya Ram Gaya Ram in Bihar’!”

“What say you Modi ji?” said Sibal, a prominent voice in the opposition.

Aaya Ram Gaya Ram’ was an expression used widely in politics in the 1990s referring to the frequent floor-crossing and switching of parties.
