Police are searching for a driver who struck a pedestrian in Pacoima late Friday night, causing a fatal traffic crash involving several vehicles.
The driver of a light-colored pickup truck traveling northbound on San Fernando Road around 11:45 p.m. struck a man who was crossing mid-block near Montague Street, according to a Los Angeles Police Department statement.
The pedestrian was reportedly knocked to the ground. When they tried to get up, the pedestrian was struck by a light-colored full-size SUV that was also traveling northbound on San Fernando.
Thrown into opposing lanes of traffic by the force of the second collision, the pedestrian was then run over by a dark-colored mid-sized SUV that was traveling southbound on San Fernando, police said.
None of the three drivers stopped to assist the pedestrian or to wait for police.
The first and second vehicles were last seen northbound on San Fernando, heading towards Osborne Street. The third vehicle was last seen southbound on San Fernando towards Branford Street.
Descriptions of the drivers, as well as detailed descriptions of the vehicles, were not available.
Authorities described the pedestrian as a possibly Hispanic man in his late 20’s or early 30’s. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
