A Perth woman has exposed the fat-phobic messages sent to her by a Tinder match who had yet to meet her in person.
Jade said it was the first time she’d opened the app in months when she matched with Sam* (Jade requested their real names weren’t used to avoid online harassment and doxxing).
One of the first questions he asked Jade was “So what did you like most about my profile?”
He then began pestering Jade for a full-length photo.
“I knew he was trying to scope out my size so I refused to,” Jade said.
“He guessed I was a size 10. . . I said ‘yep’! Then he said ‘oh perfect! Because girls shouldn’t be more than 75 per cent of their male partner’s body size! 51 to 61kg is about right, do you agree?’
“I’d already realised he was misogynistic. . . the conversation had only continued because I was morbidly curious.
“I said ‘actually no. . . I’m 73kg’.”
Sam* then tried to tell Jade it was impossible to be a size 10 and weigh 73kg.
“So I felt compelled to tell him that I use the gym a lot. . . I told him my leg press is 230. . . he asked what my squat was.
“I said ‘100’ then he stammered and said ‘Oh. . . mine’s 125’. He went a bit quiet and cut the conversation off there.”
Then came the comment that left Jade gobsmacked.
“Jenna, I’m going to bow out on meeting. I’m very particular about what I want in a lady physically. My ex was loaded with muscle and huge silicone implants taller than you and 13kgs lighter. I was on my limit with her at 60kgs. Please do yourself and the guys out there on Tinder the favour of full length transparent photos to avoid all this time wastage. 5’4” lean and healthy is 53kgs not 73kgs. I should know, I used to critique models.”
“I know why you’re still single!” Jade replied. “Keep your advice to yourself. Do yourself a favour and put your height on your profile. Good luck.”
Jade said she was “ashamed” to say his message upset her and that she doesn’t remember the last time she was that angry.
“He knew I’d had a rough few days so the fact that a man would kick someone while they were down only proves the kind of man that he is,” Jade said.
“Insecure, weak minded. . . and intimidated by women.”
