Perth woman’s wholesome TikTok brings business to fish and chip shop

A Perth woman’s wholesome TikTok has brought customers to her family’s fish and chip shop.

Maia Magoutas, whose family recently purchased Kingsley Fish and Chips, in Perth’s north, had no idea her video would go viral when she posted it, she told PerthNow.

In the video, which has been viewed over 1 million times on the platform, the camera pans to Maia with the text: “My parents decided to buy a fish and chip store and my mum asked me to work tonight but just before I was about to say no she sent this to the family group chat.”

The video then cuts to a sweet selfie of Maia’s mum and dad at the shop with the caption: “Ready for service.”

It then cuts back to Maia with the text: “How can I say no after that 😭 .”

Maia said the TikTok was so successful people started coming into the fish and chip shop and mentioning the video, which was a complete shock to her parents who didn’t even know about it.

“The night after I posted it my parents had customers coming in and asking if the business was being sold as their kids had told them about seeing my TikTok! Mum and dad laughed and thought it was funny but they never thought it would attract the attention and amount of views it got,” she said.

Maia said she did in fact work that shift, and it was busy!
