Perth’s ‘most entertaining hotel’ to open its doors in Karrinyup this Friday

A new hotel will open its doors at Karrinyup Shopping Centre this Friday — not just a regular hotel but an immersive one.

Adding to its array of entertainment venues in the precinct, Funlab, which also owns Strike Bowling, Holey Moley and Archie Brothers, will open the doors to its Hijinx Hotel on Friday.

It boasts 10 different challenge rooms where Wes Anderson and Willy Wonka combine in a New York-style hotel.

The 10 quick-play immersive game rooms are designed to test and entertain between two and six players, who work together to complete a challenge in a four-minute window and score points on a leaderboard.

Hijinx Hotel has already proven popular in its other venues across the country.

A new room has been designed just for Karrinyup called The Restaurant.

“Hotel guests” can also enjoy a cocktail or beverage of choice at the balcony bar with picturesque bay views.

Funlab operations manager for WA Lauren Dight said the hotel was one of the remaining pieces of the puzzle for Funlab in Karrinyup.

“For us, Hijinx is the hotel where you play not stay, so you can definitely leave your suitcases at home for this one,” she said.

“It is our first of its kind in WA. Our first location was in Sydney in 2002 and we are now set to launch our sixth venue here in Perth.

“This is open to guests of all ages and it’s a chance for people to experience social competition in different ways.”

Funlab CEO Michael Schreiber said the group was excited to bring the popular brand to the west.

“Everything we do at Funlab is for the fun of it. Our venues are the sort of fun that aren’t just entertaining, they’re fun you need to experience first-hand to realise it could even exist,” he said.

“That’s why we’re so excited to bring our Hijinx Hotel brand to Perth and give locals the chance to experience out-of-this-world fun.

“From hens, bucks and corporate parties to date night, team building exercises and a family day out, Hijinx Hotel is the perfect destination for all ages to enjoy some competitive socialising fun while indulging in our delicious eats and drinks on offer.”

Karrinyup Shopping Centre general manager Ben Davis said the hotel would add to the appeal of the already popular shopping centre.

“Hijinx Hotel is another first to market brand for us which adds an extra dimension to our entertainment and leisure precinct and another fantastic entertainment option for the people of Perth,” he said.

Pricing for Hijinx Hotel is $25 for adults and $20 for kids.
