Tom Ford will unveil its new face in Milan in September. Appointed in April as head of style at the American fashion house, which was bought by beauty giant Estée Lauder in 2022, Peter Hawkings has chosen the Lombard capital to present his first women’s collection for spring/summer 2024 during September’s Fashion Week.
“I am honoured to have been appointed creative director of Tom Ford and to have this unique opportunity to help write the next chapter in the brand’s history. Italian craftsmanship and excellence have been a source of inspiration for our collections and I am delighted to showcase this at Milan Fashion Week,” commented Peter Hawkings in a statement.
Hawkings worked alongside Tom Ford for almost twenty-five years, first working with him at Gucci and then following him to the United States in 2006, when the Texan designer founded his own fashion house. At Tom Ford, he was responsible for overseeing the design and production of all menswear categories, from formal wear to sportswear, as well as leather goods and accessories, taking on the role of vice president of Tom Ford Menswear. In his current role, Peter Hawkings oversees Tom Ford’s women’s, men’s and accessories collections, alongside new CEO Guillaume Jesel.
The American multinational Estée Lauder, which had already managed the Tom Ford Beauty licence since 2006, acquired the brand for 2.3 billion dollars. The Italian group Ermenegildo Zegna, which developed and managed Tom Ford’s men’s ready-to-wear and accessories, has seen its licence extended to include women’s collections.
For his part, the eponymous designer presented his latest collection in April, offering looks recreated from his house’s most iconic pieces of the last thirteen years. His glamorous, sexy style and legacy are set to continue under the aegis of Peter Hawkings.
