19-year-old Orlando Pirates dynamite Relebohile Mofokeng reveals the pain of missing out on the AFCON tournament.

Mofokeng says he was looking to be part of the Bafana AFCON squad but he remains hopeful of a chance in the near future.

Having featured in 20 matches across all competitions for Pirates, the midfield dynamite, Mofokeng now wishes Bafana all the best of luck as they will meet Mali on Tuesday night.

Addressing the media at an event where he was one of the players set to be part of the PSL/MultiChoice Player Transformation Programme, the dynamite Mofokeng says he respects Bafana coach Hugo Broos.

Following stellar displays for Pirates, Mofokeng got an opportunity to train with English Premier League outfit, Wolverhampton Wanderers and the dynamite takes that as a sign of better things to come.

“I wanted to go to Afcon but things don’t always go the way you want them. I wish them good luck and for now, I go on with my life. Hopefully, they will call me next time,” he says to TimesLIVE.

“It was a great experience and there is not much of a difference. Getting an opportunity to go there says our country is not too far from the level of English Premiership clubs.

“We must just do a bit more to arrive at that level and we will get there.”

MOFOKENG LOOKS UP TO PIRATES STAR LORCH AND DE BRUYNE

The MTN8 winner with Pirates, Mofokeng adds that the support from the fans pushes him to do better and reveals inspiration by Thembinkosi Lorch and Kevin de Bruyne of Manchester City.

“I also appreciate the support from the supporters and they never put me under pressure at the beginning when I was finding my feet,” adds the Pirates dynamite.

“In South Africa, the player I looked up to is Thembinkosi Lorch because I play in his position and he is the best in that position and overseas I look up to Kevin de Bruyne.”
