Orlando Pirates are believed to have entered the race to sign Polokwane City midfielder Oswin Apollis as he continues to impress.
Phakaaathi reports that Apollis has also caught the attention of the reigning MTN8 and Nedbank Cup champions, Pirates.

Pirates join the race to sign the AFCON-bound Polokwane City midfielder as they are set to battle it out with Soweto rivals, Kaizer Chiefs.
The former SuperSport United midfielder has seriously impressed in the current DStv Premiership season with Rise and Shine.
The 22-year-old ex-Matsatsantsa A Pitori is in good form for the Polokwane-based PSL returnees and has forced his way into the Bafana set-up.

PIRATES JOIN RACE FOR POLOKWANE-BASED MIDFIELDER
The football publication has it that Apollis, who is in camp with Bafana in Stellenbosch has also impressed Pirates scouts.
As things stand, Chiefs are also believed to be monitoring the AFCON-bound midfielder but Pirates have also shown interest in Appollis.

“Oswin knows that there is interest in him because he is playing well for Polokwane City at the moment,” said a source close to the player.

“He is also scoring goals which is good for a team like City. I can tell you that Pirates have also enquired about Oswin because Chiefs were the first to show interest in him.”

In addition, the source close to the Johannesburg-based publication reveals that the young midfielder could head overseas.

Should coach Hugo Broos give Apollis an opportunity, the youngster could be lured by overseas scouts as he is deemed as one of the talented players in the local top flight.
“If he manages to play and has a good AFCON, maybe European teams might come calling too and I think City are open to selling him at the right price because he’s under contract with them,” adds the source.

Looking at his contribution in the DStv Premiership so far, Apollis has netted five goals in 17 appearances across all competitions for City.
