A star Eagle showing off a new hip bomber jacket has ruffled the feathers of some fans as the club endures its worst season on record.
Instead of hitting the training paddock or working with teammates on how to save their year from hell, Oscar Allen — who has been a rare standout for West Coast — is helping spruik a new fashion collaboration with StreetX.
The Perth brand — owned by Daniel Bradshaw — enlisted Allen as their model for the new collection, sharing photos with their 91,000 followers on Instagram.
The cult label is at the forefront of men’s street fashion in Perth.
Allen posed in the vintage-look Eagles-branded bomber jacket ahead of its launch on Wednesday.
Some Eagles fans were quick to let Allen know what they thought of his side hustle.
“Surprised you don’t give a spoon out with these!,” one user commented.
But others liked the sure-to-be pricey jacket.
“How good is the old logo patch on the arm?,” another user commented.
The Eagles have reached new lows in 2023, winning just game and losing a club-record 16 matches on the trot. It comes amid a horror stretch that has yielded just three victories in their past 44 games over the past two years.
Coach Adam Simpson and chief executive Trevor Nisbett’s futures at the club are on tenterhooks heading into the Eagles game against fellow cellar dwellers North Melbourne on Sunday. Another loss could be the final nail in the coffin for both.
West Coast have suffered four losses by more than 100 points this year, including a club-record 171-point hiding against Sydney last month.
