TIM CAHILL’S son has woken up unemployed after being released by Brisbane Roar.
Shae Cahill, 19, joined the A-League side last September after leaving Everton.
Shae failed to break into the team and has now been let go along with six other players.
His contract had not expired and instead agreed that it would be mutually terminated.
The club said in a statement: “Brisbane Roar wishes to thank all departing players for their contribution atthe club and wish them all the best for the future.”
It comes as a disappointment as there had been high hopes that the 19-year-old would become a key player.
Ceo Kaz Patafta said last year: “Securing such a promising young attacking midfielder is a testament to our club’s new vision of integrating youthful talent into our squad and first team environment.
“Shae’s addition promises an exciting era ahead for the Roar family.”
The midfielder had shown promise during his time in Everton’s youth academy.
He assisted three goals in nine games for the under-18s in the 2022/23 season.

He made one more appearance from the bench as she failed to get a goal or an assist.
Shae then spent the remainder of the season with the Young Roar in the NPL.
His father, Tim, became a Premier League legend during his playing career.
The Australian retired in 2019 as the Socceroos’ top goalscorer with 50 goals in 108 games.
During his club career, he scored 170 goals in 685 games.
He spent the majority of his playing days at Everton at which he played 278 games and scored 68 goals.
Since hanging up his boots, he has become a director at K.A.S. Eupen.
