Prosecutors are looking to drop felony charges against Jackson Mahomes, the younger brother of Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, stemming from an alleged incident at a Kansas City-area bar in February 2023.
On Tuesday, a motion was filed by prosecutors to dismiss the three felony charges of aggravated sexual battery against Jackson, who has been accused of forcibly kissing the female owner of the establishment, with the motion noting the alleged victim “has made her lack of cooperation abundantly clear,” the Kansas City Star reported.
Further, prosecutors said the alleged victim also relayed, “She would say she has not been truthful to police,” according to Fox 4 Kansas City, adding the interaction with Jackson “was consensual.”
Jackson, a 23-year-old influencer, was arrested for aggravated sexual battery in May 2023, with footage of the alleged incident surfacing months prior.
At the time, Jackson also received a misdemeanor battery charge concerning the allegation he shoved a male staffer on the same night of the apparent encounter with the restaurant owner.
The prosecutors plan to pursue that charge still, according to Fox 4 Kansas City.
Jackson pleaded not guilty to the charges last year.
“Like I said from the beginning, Jackson has done nothing wrong. We had full confidence that the truth of the matter would ultimately be revealed. The defense will reserve further comment until the remaining count is disposed of,” Jackson’s attorney, Brandon Davies, said in a statement to Fox 4.
Jackson is slated to appear in Johnson County court on Wednesday afternoon.
