Rama Devi Women’s University inks MoU with Korean organisation

BHUBANESWAR: Rama Devi Women’s University here on Sunday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a Korean organisation Hannarae Culture Incorporated (HCIC) from Busan in South Korea for joint research and development programme on Korean culture and Buddhism.
The MoU was signed on the occasion of the university’s foundation day ceremony organized here on Sunday.Odisha governor and university’s chancellor Raghubar Das attended the event.
“The objective to sign the MoU is to accomplish and develop academic, scientific, technical, and cultural relations between these two centres of learning to be made effective and to operate in all areas of mutual interest,” said Aparajita Chowdhury, vice-chancellor of the university.
According to the understanding, HCIC Hongbeopsa Temple will facilitate a short-term training programme on Korean culture and Buddhism for two students and a faculty member from Rama Devi Women’s University at its centre in South Korea for seven days.
The two institutions will also focus on joint research and development programmes along with joint publications/seminars/conferences on Korean culture and Buddhism. They will explore other areas of new initiatives.
Chowdhury said the HCIC will also provide Korean language training to RDW University students. “The organisation will take two students to South Korea and teach them Korean language. They will stay there for one year. The HCIC will take care of the boarding, lodging and other expenditures of the students. After their return, the university will plan to start a Korean language training programme,” she added.
She said they have also signed another MoU with Swabhiman, a non-government organisation, to provide inclusive education to physically challenged students studying in the university.
While addressing the gathering at the foundation day ceremony, Das appealed to the students to follow the ideology of Maa Rama Devi and serve the country. “Women will play a vital role to make India a developed and economically strong country in the world,” he added.
