KRIS BOYD has claimed that Celtic’s win over Hibs at Easter Road was “daylight robbery”.
The Rangers legend and SunSport columnist reckons Nick Montgomery’s men deserved at least a point against the champions, despite hailing match-winner Adam Idah at full-time.
Celtic raced into an early lead in the capital as deadline day signing Idah found the back of the net from 12 yards after Alistair Johnston suffered a nasty head knock, earning his team a penalty.
Hibs midfielder Joe Newell levelled the tie in the second half and the home side had plenty of chances to take the lead but they scuffed several efforts.
Drama then unfolded in Leith as Celtic were awarded a SECOND penalty in stoppage time following a challenge on Kyogo Furuhashi from Newell.
Idah stepped up again and made no mistake as he slotted it past David Marshall to double his Hoops tally.
But Boyd has taken aim at his old rivals at full-time, insisting they got away with one and Hibs were unfortunate not to pick up at least a point.
Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: “Any game you want to get the three points, but make no mistake Celtic got away with one tonight there is no doubt about that.
“He has come up (Idah) and a lot of people were asking questions of him before he came up but to score to massive penalties the way he did, credit to him.
“When you win the game everything changes around it and you think you were dominant in it, but Celtic were way below the standards they have set over the last two years.
“It was daylight robbery and they have got away with one tonight.”
The pressure was on Rodgers to lead his Hoops stars to victory at Easter Road after Rangers joined them on 58 points at the top of the league table following their 2-1 win over Aberdeen.
The Northern Irishman had never won at the stadium previously as he came up short during his first stint at Parkhead.
But he ended his Easter Road hoodoo thanks to late VAR drama and attention now turns to Scottish Cup action against St Mirren on Sunday.
