BALTIMORE – Joe Flacco’s addition has not changed the Cleveland Browns’ plans for their starting quarterback for now. At least, not for another week.
Flacco, a former Super Bowl MVP and a 15-year NFL veteran, joined the Browns on Monday following Deshaun Watson’s season-ending shoulder surgery, bringing depth, experience, and an insurance policy for the starting position.
Initially, Flacco, who boasts an 18-3 record against the Browns while playing with the Ravens, will be part of the team’s practice squad but is expected to join the active roster soon.
However, the Browns (7-3) have decided to stick with rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson at starting quarterback for this week’s game against Denver. Coach Kevin Stefanski stated that Thompson-Robinson will start while plans for Flacco’s role are still being determined.
Flacco brings a wealth of experience, having been the MVP of the Super Bowl following the 2012 season while with Baltimore. His addition is expected to benefit the Browns on both sides of the ball.
