Red Bull has announced that an investigation into Formula One team principal Christian Horner has been completed and the complaint against him has been dismissed. He is cleared to continue in his current role.
A Red Bull spokesperson stated, “The independent investigation into the allegations made against Mr. Horner is complete, and Red Bull can confirm that the grievance has been dismissed.”
The spokesperson also mentioned, “The complainant has a right of appeal. Red Bull is confident that the investigation has been fair, rigorous, and impartial. The investigation report is confidential, and we will not be commenting further out of respect for all concerned.”
The news comes just before the first race of the 2024 season in Bahrain. Horner, who has led the Red Bull F1 team since its founding in 2005, has denied the allegations.
Red Bull has achieved great success under Horner’s leadership, winning numerous races and championships in a relatively short period.
Verstappen and Red Bull are considered favorites for the 2024 season.
Red Bull initiated an independent investigation by an external specialist barrister in response to certain allegations in early February. The company takes such matters seriously and promised to conclude the investigation promptly.
Allegations surrounding Horner have been the subject of speculation in the F1 media and European tabloids. The specifics of the allegations and the identity of the accuser have not been confirmed independently.
Verstappen’s contract with Red Bull runs until 2028, while the team’s other driver, Sergio Perez, is contracted until the end of the 2024 season.
