Following a dazzling run on the counter, the England international earned himself a free-kick 25 yards from goal after being bodychecked by Rodrigo Bentancur. Eze got back on his feet and smashed a dipping free-kick into the top corner, beating the goalkeeper on his side.
The celebration from Eze and his Palace teammates was exuberant, but it was short-lived as Tottenham then took control of the game, spurred on by their home crowd.
Despite Johnstone’s save from Werner and Son’s narrowly missed shot, Tottenham managed to equalize in the 77th minute. Substitute Brennan Johnson showed some skills in a tight space, beating two players and setting up Werner for an easy goal from close range.
Just three minutes later, Tottenham completed their turnaround with James Maddison’s quick throw-in leading to Cristian Romero scoring a header and putting his team in the lead.
With only two minutes remaining, a stroke of bad luck for Palace allowed Son to break through on goal and score, sending Johnstone the wrong way and sealing another defeat for the Eagles on Tottenham’s turf.
