Rixo Adds Color, Prints to New York’s SoHo With Upcoming Pop-up Store

LONDON — New York’s SoHo is getting a taste of Britain thanks to the brand Rixo, known for its bright, printed maxidresses, opening its first pop-up store on April 22 at 19 Prince Street.

The brand is making the most of the three-month pop-up, with intimate styling sessions; panel talks; shopping events and meet-and-greets with the brand’s founders, Henrietta Rix and Orlagh McCloskey.

Doubling down on the element of community, the store features an outdoor courtyard and a private living room space.

“The opening of our pop-up shop in SoHo represents a pivotal moment in Rixo’s international expansion plans,” said Rix.

“Orlagh and I are thrilled to bring our unique blend of British style and contemporary designs to the vibrant streets of New York City, and we look forward to welcoming both loyal fans and newcomers alike to experience the magic of Rixo. The pop-up marks the start of our very exciting plans for the U.S. market,” she added.

The pop-up space has been designed in collaboration with Adalberto Angulo Sosa and Jennifer Paccione Angulo, founders of Casa Angulo.

Using items from markets, auctions and local artisans, the space resembles an English sitting room with bright and cheery colors and prints.

Last year, Rixo expanded its retail operations in the U.K. with the opening of its first flagship in April on the King’s Road.

The London store is 5,000 square feet with a bar and coffee shop inside.

McCloskey said the company had been planning the flagship from the very early days of Rixo, “before we even had a business plan.”

Since launching in 2015, Rixo has made a name in the contemporary British fashion market. The two business partners started with ready-to-wear and later ventured into footwear, accessories, loungewear, outerwear and bridal, offering sizes ranging from a U.K. 6 to 24.
