Rorie Buckey – Robert Irwin’s Perth-born girlfriend – has shared a big relationship and life change.
She is joining the Irwin family business! Which of course means getting close to crocs in far-north Queensland.
On Wednesday night she shared over on Instagram that she would be researching crocodiles at Australia Zoo.
“I am honoured to be part of groundbreaking research on crocodiles in remote North Queensland,” she wrote.
“Working with the University of Queensland and Australia Zoo is profoundly rewarding and I am so grateful to be alongside such inspiring individuals. This data is helping to conserve a keystone species and the habitat that supports them!”
It’s a big change in career goals for 19-year-old Rorie as it was previously reported that she was studying physiotherapy at Curtin University.
In a super cute move, Rorie updated her Insta bio to say Wildlife Warrior… to match the Irwin’s.
Ever the supportive partner, Robert wrote “Yeah Rorie!!!! 🙌” in the comments.
The pair have been linked for about a year but made their relationship official in July.
In another post on Wednesday, Buckey shared an intimate snap with Robert that showed the pair cooking together.
There have been rumours that Robert’s big sister Bindi doesn’t approve of the pair’s relationship, but back in October she shared a group photo of her family that included Rorie, with the caption: “This group right here ❤️ Grateful for every moment shared.”
She also added a like to Rorie’s recent announcement.
And with Bindi and her husband Chandler Powell meeting as teens before getting married – maybe wedding bells aren’t too far away for Rorie and Robert?
