Parents of a Rockingham toddler are in shock after the sudden unexplained death of their son.
Micah, the 16-month-old son of Ben Smith and Drew La Reservee, died overnight on Friday June 14.
“My baby, there is nothing in the world that could ever of prepared Daddy and I for this. We love so deeply. Forever. We miss you so much,” Ms La Reservee shared last week.
“Fly high up there and watch over us.”
Family friend Lily Hewson organised a fundraiser to cover Micah’s funeral and the couple’s time off work.
“Micah passed away unexpectedly overnight on Friday night. They don’t have a cause yet — waiting for the report from the coroner,” Ms Hewson told the Sound Telegraph.
More than $30,000 had been raised for the couple by Monday.
“It is with heavy hearts that we come to you today. Ben and Drew have recently experienced an unimaginable tragedy — unexpectedly losing their beloved Micah,” the fundraiser read.
“As their close friends, we want to rally around them during this incredibly difficult time and do whatever we can to help. Micah was such a happy, loving little boy who brought so much joy and hope.”
Ms La Reservee took time to thank the community for their support.
“We are so overwhelmed by the amount of love and support we have received, we truly can’t thank everyone enough,” she told the Sound Telegraph.
Family and friends posted heartfelt messages online for the grieving couple.
“So sorry for your loss my heart is breaking for you,” one wrote.
“Sending you all the love and support, beautiful boy will be guiding you through each day,” another added.
“Sloane & I will miss his smiling face & happy energy at Saturday swimming. Thinking of you all,” a third woman added.
