Ryan Gosling’s reboot of “The Fall Guy,” took first place in its debut at the box office, according to IMDB’s Box Office Mojo.
The action flick, starring Gosling as a cocky stunt double for a famous actor, raked in $10.48 million on Friday. The movie, loosely based on the Lee Majors-led 1980s TV series, was expected to garner $28 million for its opening weekend after falling short of earlier estimates, according to the Hollywood Reporter. That’s down from the initially anticipated $30 million to $35 million.
The Post gave “The Fall Guy” two out of four stars, calling it “mediocre” and “rather annoying.”
Coming in a distant second place was “Tarot,” with a $2.55 million take. The horror film about a group of friends who inadvertently unleash evil from a deck of cursed tarot cards also hit theaters Friday,
A week after its debut at No. 1, Zendaya’s tennis flick “Challengers” — about a “steamy” messy love triangle — dropped to third place, taking home $2.52 million on Friday.
“Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace,” came in fourth place, with sales of $2.4 million. The movie returned to the silver screen Friday for its 25th anniversary in a limited engagement.
“Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” a sequel to 2021’s “Godzilla vs. Kong” which was released on March 29, held onto fifth place, with $1.04 million in sales.
