San Mateo County Supervisors unanimously approved $400,000 in funding this week to boost reproductive health care, among other services slated for a new round of funding.
“The upgrades will afford Planned Parenthood Mar Monte the ability to serve patients more efficiently and increase capacity,” said Board of Supervisors President Warren Slocum.
The funds will be sourced from Measure K, a local sales tax fund that finances local social services.
Planned Parenthood operates three clinics in San Mateo County, offering sexual and reproductive health care, gender-affirming care, behavioral health and family medicine services.
These clinics serve approximately 13,000 San Mateo County residents annually.
Earlier this year, San Mateo County made STD in-home tests available for free to residents.
The reproductive health funding is part of a total of $1.9 million from Measure K approved this week.
Other approved programs and amounts include:
— $350,000 for the Baby Bonus Program, which grants a $300 monthly payment for three years to 400 parents in San Mateo County.
— $190,000 for dental services for children, older adults, and coastal residents.
— $150,000 for the Coastal Resilient Infrastructure Strategic Plan.
— $100,000 for Ombudsman services, which provide investigation and resolution services for long-term care residents in San Mateo County.
