Baby she’s back.
After being eliminated and unmasked during the third season of “The Masked Singer” following a hilarious rendition of Sir Mix-A-Lot’s “Baby Got Back,” Sarah Palin popped up on another Fox reality singing competition show.
The 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee and former governor of Alaska surprised viewers when she appeared on Wednesday night’s episode of “We Are Family.”
Hosted by actor and comedian Anthony Anderson and his mother, Doris Bowman, who are both fresh off of their joint appearance at the 2024 Emmys, the guessing game show features non-famous relatives of celebrities performing solo. Later in the show, they return to the stage to duet with their secret famous family member.
Meanwhile, the studio audience, comprised of 100 contestants, competes through multiple rounds. With the help of various clues, they must guess which celebrity the performer is related to for a chance to win up to $150,000.
Palin, 60, was, of course, the secret celebrity. She emerged, wearing a sparkly silver dress and sang Garth Brooks’ country classic “Friends in Low Places” with her non-famous cousin, JD.
Some fans thought the performance was pretty “low” indeed and took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to air out their grievances.
“UGH! Who the hell wants to see Sarah Palin singing? We Are Family needs to pick better guests. lol Sorry. I can’t stand her,” one watcher said.
“Oh no Sarah Palin is on another singing game show tonight #WeAreFamily,” a second viewer added. “The last time that happened ( #TheMaskedSinger ) the entire world shut down.”
Palin’s reveal on “We Are Family” was the last of the night after NSYNC’s Joey Fatone and NBA legend Kenny Smith.
Although Palin remained quiet after the song ended, Anderson asked JD how he reacted when his cousin ran for VP in 2008 alongside John McCain.
“It was mind-boggling for our entire family,” he replied. “It was a heck of a ride, but it was fun. We were very proud of her.”
Palin previously spoke about her appearance on “Masked Singer” as the Bear calling her stint on the show “freeing.”
“It was all about the mask,” she told host Nick Cannon on the aftershow at the time. “I knew it would be so refreshing and so freeing and well, in a real respectful way, kind of a walking middle finger to the haters out there in the world where I could do whatever I wanted to do and not care what anybody said because they wouldn’t know until after the fact. So it all worked out.”
“We Are Family” airs Wednesdays on Fox.
