SAWS issues alerts in five provinces

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has raised the alarm with the issuance of severe thunderstorm alerts across central regions of the country for Tuesday.

These alerts come in two levels of intensity: an orange level 5 and a yellow level 2.

Provinces to be affected by severe thunderstorms

The more severe of the two, the orange level 5 warning, is in effect for areas in the eastern parts of the Free State, the extreme south-eastern portion of the North West, the extreme southern regions of Mpumalanga, the Gauteng Highveld, and the north-western sections of KwaZulu-Natal.

It also extends to the extreme south-western areas of Limpopo, the Mpumalanga Highveld, and the central and eastern parts of KwaZulu-Natal.
