SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER feels ready for the PGA Championship despite becoming a dad for the first time last week.
The world number one has barely picked up a golf club since his triumph at The Masters last month.
He missed the Wells Fargo Championship last week – a key warm-up for the PGA – as his wife Meredith went into labour.
But Scheffler said he would not swap being with his wife for anything and has enjoyed the first few days of fatherhood.
He said: “It took a little longer than anticipated for him to come, but I was able to get some good prep work in.
“Obviously, not my usual stuff with him being born in the middle of last week; I took a more significant break than I would have, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
“It was so fun to get home and spend some time with him and Meredith and just hang out and be a dad for a few days. It was fun times at the Scheffler house, for sure.”
Scheffler, 27, has been almost unbeatable over the last few months, claiming victory at at Bay Hill and The Players in March, and Heritage in April.
He won his second green jacket in Augusta after barely putting a foot wrong and is confident he can be successful at Valhalla Golf Course if he stays focus.
The Texan added: “I think just mentally, being as present as I can, being committed to my shots, not worrying about the results of things – just being committed to what I’m doing.

“I want to be as prepared as possible in an event and standing here today, I feel like I’m as prepared as possible. I feel like my game is in a good spot and looking forward to competing this weekend.”
The two-time major winner will be the man to beat once again at the PGA Championship, despite the fact he has not played for three weeks.
Scheffler will also be without caddie Ted Scott on Saturday if he makes the cut, as he will be attending the graduation of his daughter.
But Scheffler has always assured his bagman that family comes first, and now knows how difficult it is not to be with his child.
Scheffler added: “I couldn’t imagine it being the way that it is, and it’s a lot of fun.
“I miss him like crazy. It was not easy to leave the house Monday morning. But like I said, I told my son as I was leaving, I don’t want to leave you right now, but I need to.
“I don’t really know how to describe it. Watching the little dude come out of Meredith, and we waited, and it was a surprise for us whether it was going to be a boy or girl, so being able to tell my wife that it was a boy, yeah, it was a wild ride.
“Extremely proud of Meredith [Scheffler’s wife] after watching her go through that. It’s nuts. I’m glad it was her going through it and not me because I don’t know if I could have done it.”
