Mamelodi Sundowns’ forward Peter Shalulile received heavy criticism from fans following the club’s exit from the CAF Champions League semi-final on Friday evening.
Bafana Ba Style suffered a 1-0 defeat to Esperance at Loftus Versfeld which saw them go down 2-0 on aggregate.
Sundowns displayed a poor performance in Tunisia last weekend, going down 1-0. Mokwena’s side was expected to come out blazing at a packed Loftus on Friday. Masandawana started positively but failed to find the net, with Shalulile missing numerous chances.

The 30-year-old Namibian striker had several opportunities to score in the first and second half but failed to hit the back of the net. It has been a dreadful season for the Downs striker, who has only netted four league goals this campaign.
Shalulile was eventually substituted late in the second half as Sundowns chased the match. “

This week, former Sundowns striker Katlego Mashego defended the misfiring Shalulile.
“With strikers, you can see he hasn’t been scoring but are people that are supposed to provide for him helping him?” Mashego asked.
“It’s good and well to say a striker is not scoring but if he’s not missing chances then it’s a different scenario because Shalulile is not missing chances. If he was missing then it would have been something else but he’s not getting chances. I don’t want to say there’s no supply but he’s not missing chances that’s why he’s not scoring.”
