Police have scaled back the search for a man missing since he went crabbing in the Swan River on Saturday night.
Shujian Song’s family raised the alarm about 1.30am Sunday morning after he failed to return home.
Police located some items belonging to the missing man later that day, but an extensive search since both in and the water has failed to find any trace of the 45-year-old.
He was last seen walking along the Point Walter sandbank.
On Tuesday it was confirmed the ongoing police search had been scaled back, as hopes fade of finding Mr Song alive.
“A number of resources remain in the area, including Water police, but the search itself has been scaled back,” WA police told PerthNow.
“Officers are in close contact with Mr Song’s family and are providing updates and any necessary support.”
On Sunday searchers were in the water, on land and even the sky as police deployed a plane and drone in a bid to find the missing man.
Their efforts were coupled with help from the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, which launched a rescue helicopter and Marine Rescue Fremantle vessels.
