Sky customers receive free TV upgrade this month with a brand new channel showing classic 80s and 90s shows

SKY customers will find a brand new channel on their boxes later this month with a whole host of beloved classic shows from the 80s and 90s.

Old favourites such as Channel 4 hit Drop The Dead Donkey will be shown on Rewind TV when it launches soon.

The sitcom, which is set in the fictional TV newsroom of GlobeLink News, ran from 1990 to 1998.

This year it was revived into a stage show, with original stars Jeff Rawle, Victoria Wicks and Neil Pearson.

Another classic on the channel comes from Clive Anderson, who will serve up more nostalgia-tripping comedy with Whose Line Is It Anyway? in prime time, according to RXTVInfo.

But there will be some big content from before the 80s as well, including Return of The Saint, Department S and Whicker’s World.

A promo video posted on YouTube indicates that Watching, Surgical Spirit and Trouble in Mind will be shown on Rewind TV.

Tests broadcasts have already started on satellite.

But Rewind TV won’t be available officially on Sky until May 23.

It’s expected to land on satellite only for now – it’s not clear whether the channel will be available on Sky Glass and Sky Stream at launch.

“Rewind Television is the destination channel for curated classic TV,” the company says on its website.

The channel joins other stations showing much-missed vintage programmes such as Talking Pictures TV and That’s TV.
