Skyhome Electric Sedan Is A Private Jet On Wheels With A Fridge, Huge TV And Reclining Seats

A Chinese electronics giant by the name of Skywell has just unveiled a wild electric sedan that is scheduled to reach the production line next year. With more and more EVs coming out of China, it is getting increasingly difficult to differentiate them. Fortunately, a host of innovative features make Skywell’s creation stand out from the crowd.

The vehicle is named Skyhome and will be produced through Skywell’s Skyworth automotive division—yes, we admit, that’s quite the tongue-twister. Local media reports that this study is 90% representative of the eventual production model that is expected to be available for between 220,000 and 250,000 yuan, which is abour $31,000 to $35,000 at current exchange rates.

Perhaps the first thing that will strike you is just how sleek the car looks. While so many modern cars are dominated by sharp edges and straight lines, the exterior of the Skyworth Skyhome concept is remarkably curvy with a flowing front fascia complete with LED headlights and an LED light bar. The company has also equipped it with digital wing mirrors, flush door handles, a panoramic glass roof, and a full-width LED light bar. The most intriguing features are found in the cabin, however.

Positioned on the dashboard is a massive curved screen housing the gauge cluster, infotainment display, and a screen directly in front of the passenger. The concept also rocks an intriguing yoke-style steering wheel, complex ambient lighting, and a wide array of different materials.

Rear-seat passengers will be able to enjoy a particularly glamorous tech-laden experience thanks to a huge flexible screen that slides down from the ceiling. There is also a large refrigerator in the rear of the center console. Screens are also found in the rear of the front headrests and there are also a pair of tray tables. As if that wasn’t enough, the rear seats can also be reclined into a sleeping position and include a foot massage function. It really seems like a private jet on wheels.

Skyworth will reportedly sell both two- and all-wheel drive versions of the Skyhome. The flagship model will deliver 617 hp (460 kW) through a pair of electric motors and should be able to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.5 seconds. The car is also equipped with air suspension and rear-axle steering.

It is not yet clear when the firm plans to unveil the car in its production-ready guise.
