A woman is in hospital with stab wounds and her partner is dead in what is believed to be the latest in a string of horrific domestic violence incidents in WA.
A 41-year-old woman was rushed to Hedland Health Campus after suffering multiple stab wounds at a property on Mitchie Crescent in South Hedland at about 7.45am on Wednesday.
Her partner, a 45-year-old man, was found dead in the vicinity of a vacant lot at an abandoned church next door.
It is understood he took his own life in confronting circumstances which The West Australian has chosen not to publish.
While the woman suffered horrific injuries it is believed they are not life-threatening.
Detectives from South Hedland are at the scene piecing together the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A tarp is covering a massive area, protecting the scene from view of the public.
The incident follows the deaths of two women — Georgia Lyall and Tiffany Woodley — allegedly at the hands of their ex-partners in less than a fortnight.
Ms Lyall was shot dead in her South Guildford home by her ex-partner Luke Noormets, who returned to his Innaloo home, set it on fire, then took his own life late last month.
Ms Woodley was allegedly bashed to death by her former partner Peter Damjanovic at her Bedford home a fortnight ago.
Their deaths sparked nationwide outrage and WA’s domestic violence sector called a crisis meeting with Premier Roger Cook — which is due to be held next week.
