A meteor has been caught on multiple videos streaking through the sky above Perth on Wednesday night.
Hundreds of awestruck West Aussies took to social media to share their videos and photos of the meteor.
Pictures show the bright green-tinged object moving through the sky with a long tail streaking away behind it.
Krystal Jager was completely oblivious to the awe-inspiring sight she had captured on her doorcam.
The footage that can be viewed in the media player above was shared with the caption: “When you have had a big day at work and completely miss a meteor that goes past your house.”
A video shared by @amberannoys on TikTok captured the same shooting star on a dashcam.
“What the f*ck?” the shocked driver can be heard exclaiming in the footage.
Another dashcam video uploaded to TikTok by @madsta06 on the Freeway south shows the fireball from another angle.
“Omg, what is that?” the car’s passengers are heard saying.
Hundreds commented on a Facebook post by Strange Encounters Perth and shared their photos.
Lauren Comerford said the fireball could be seen from as far away as Bali.
Others wrote that it was so bright they thought it was a firework or flare at first.
Perth Observatory called it a “bloody ripper of a meteor”.
“Our Facebook page, info email address and phones have been inundated with people who saw this beautiful meteor tonight at 8:50 pm from around the South West of WA,” the Observatory posted on Facebook.
“This video (below) is from our southwest night camera on the Global Meteor Network.
“The team at Curtin University’s Desert Fireball Network are trying to work out the trajectory of the meteor because it’s so bright, the Earth may have gotten a few kilograms heavier with a meteorite somewhere in the southwest of WA.”
