Stan series Scrubland puts call out for extras for Augusta film shoot

A Stan TV production set to roll cameras in Augusta later this month has put out a call for extras.

Publicists for season two of Australian crime drama Scrublands were tight-lipped on details, but the Times understands the general casting call could lead to some applicants getting picked for slightly bigger non-speaking roles.

But the production — which will re-imagine Augusta as journalist Martin Scarsden’s home town of Port Silver — is looking for extras for background shots, crowd scenes and individual walk-on shots.

“We are excited to share a gritty and authentic story with audiences that showcases the wonderful city of Augusta,” publicist Emma Thorpe said online.

“Individuals of all ages, ethnicities and genders are encouraged to join us on set as we are thrilled to include local talent and the Augusta-Margaret River community in the world of these characters.

“No acting experience is required.”

Screenwest and Stan are yet to officially announce Augusta as the chosen locale for filming but local accommodation providers and business leaders have welcomed the production as a much-needed boost for the local economy as the weather turns.

The State Government has supported the production and more announcements are expected in June.
