Steelers 1 resume their bid for the Eastern Goldfields Netball Association’s division one premiership on Friday night in a double-chance second semifinal clash with Sonix 1 after dominating the qualifying series.
Despite a bye last weekend to complete the regular season, Steelers finished two games and percentage ahead of Sonix 1, whose 12 games included four losses and a draw.
Steelers 1 have just three defeats on their record.
However, two of those have been in the squad’s past five games and include a 47-26 loss against Sonix 1 in round 12.
After losing the season-opener against Imperials 1, Steelers 1 went on a six-game winning run before lowering their colours against Mana 1 in round nine.
Sonix 1 nailed down second spot after ending the qualifiers last weekend with a 44-42 win against Rookies 1.
Imperials 1 finished third after beating Mana 1, 62-59, and now oppose Rookies 1 in Friday’s first semifinal at 6pm.
The losers will bow out of flag contention.
Friday’s second semifinal is at 7.30pm, with the winner advancing straight to the grand final on September 6.
The division two and division four semifinals were played on Thursday night.
