Summer Vacations 2024: Due to an intensifying heatwave affecting several regions, states across the country are declaring summer vacations for all government and private schools. The India Meteorological Department has issued a heat wave warning for several districts in Himachal Pradesh for the next 4-5 days. According to the Meteorological Centre in Shimla, the heat wave is likely to continue in isolated pockets in the districts of Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Solan, Sirmaur, Kangra, and Shimla districts of Himachal Pradesh for the next 4 to 5 days.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department on Sunday held out no immediate respite from the searing and scalding heatwave as it issued a red alert in Delhi informing that the temperatures can range between 28 to 44 degrees Celsius. Haryana, Punjab and Ghaziabad, are some of the states that have shut schools or revised school timings.

Summer vacation in Haryana schools from June 1
Haryana Directorate of School Education on Saturday announced summer vacation in all government and private schools from June 1 to June 30. According to an official statement, all schools will remain closed during this period and will reopen on July 1. The Directorate has directed all District Education Officers, Elementary Education Officers, Block Education Officers, and Block Elementary Education Officers to ensure compliance with these directions.
Additionally, the Rajasthan Education Department has announced a summer vacation for all government and private schools in the state, starting from May 17 and lasting until June 30. The department has also issued a warning to schools against holding any extra classes during this period.
According to the Delhi school academic calendar, the summer vacation in the national capital begins on May 11 and ends on June 30. This year, a total of 50 days of summer vacation have been scheduled in the city.
According to the State Education Board, the summer vacation for students in all government and private schools in Madhya Pradesh started on May 1 and will continue until June 15.
