The former professional athlete, who began co-hosting Sunrise with Natalie Barr back in May, shot his scenes at Sydney’s iconic Palm Beach, 7NEWS.com.au understands.

While the storyline is being kept top secret, fans can expect to see the 45-year-old in “scenes which will air later next year”.

It’s thought Shirvo will be playing himself.

“As a kid who grew up watching Home and Away, it was all a bit surreal to be in Summer Bay with Alf Stewart!” he tells 7NEWS.com.au.

“What a fun experience. The entire cast and crew were so welcoming and generous with acting tips and advice for this novice.

“I think this will be one of those things my kids are never going to let me live down!”

The co-host will not be the first Sunrise star to appear on the beloved soap.

In October 2021, weather presenter Sam Mac made his acting debut on the show, playing himself as a VIP guest at a Summer Bay soiree.

At the time he shared a photo of him alongside actor Ray Meagher, holding a shirt and hat with the slogan, “Sam Mac is… Summer Bae”.

“My @homeandaway episode is on TONIGHT 🏖 I’m not sure Alf is on board with my line of commemorative “Sam Mac-chandise” 🤷🏽‍♂️ He threatened legal action 😬,” he captioned the post at the time.
