Suspect Pulls A GTA Move And Reverses Away From Police During Chase

A Los Angeles man must have been very excited about the new Grand Theft Auto VI, since he recreated the game by leading police on a pursuit through downtown LA Monday night in an allegedly stolen truck.

Police pursued the reportedly stolen truck through downtown LA where he sped through intersections, drove on the wrong side of the road and even drove in reverse to try to get away, according to CBS News. It was a pretty good showing… until he crashed into someone else’s car.

Pursuit suspect reverses by police after hitting dead-end

The reverse maneuver was probably the most impressive part, in my opinion. The driver hit a dead end and seemed to be trapped. That’s when he threw his allegedly stolen GMC Sierra pickup (or Chevy Silverado, it’s hard to tell) in reverse and swerved by officers at about 30 mph. From there, he whipped around the middle of an intersection and continued to get away from the police. Eventually, they called it quits and canceled the pursuit, CBS News says.

The suspect continued to drive erratically despite beating the chase for the time being. He steered the pickup onto the wrong side of the road at high speed. Eventually, the way the suspect was driving caught up with him, leading to a three-car crash involving an innocent driver caught in the crosshairs of the situation and a parked car.

From there, the suspect hopped out of his now-fucked pickup truck and began running around the neighborhood where he crashed in an attempt to lose the LAPD helicopter overhead. After attempting to find somewhere to hide, the “visibility-exhausted” man surrendered to police in Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, CBS News reports.

This all started because the driver was wanted for grand theft auto, according to Fox 11 Los Angeles. Buddy, we all want Grand Theft Auto, but it’s not coming out until 2025. You’re going to have to wait just like the rest of us.
