MILAN — The eco credentials of luxury swimwear brand Kampos, a B Corp since 2022, are setting sail on a new sea, courtesy of a tie-up with the 7Pines Resort Sardinia.
After testing linkups with other international hospitality operators, including the Park Hyatt, Four Seasons and Cala di Volpe hotels as well as Planhotel Hospitality Group-owned Maldivian resorts, Kampos is dropping a capsule collection and opening a pop-up shop at the resort located in Baja Sardinia on the northeastern coast of the island.
The capsule collection comprising men’s, women’s and kids’ swimwear bears an allover seahorse pattern, nodding to the mascot of the luxury resort’s Kids Club, as well as to Kampos’ own logo. The motif was created by Sardinia-based artist Claudia Filigheddu and it is juxtaposed to both brand’s names scattered throughout.
“I’m very satisfied with this partnership because it’s based on concrete shared values among the two brands,” said Alessandro Vergano, the Procter & Gamble and Swarovski alum who established the brand in 2019 and serves as chief executive officer.
The capsule collection is available at the Kampos pop-up store at the luxury resort, as well as online and at select flagships, including units at the Sardinian island’s Porto Cervo and Olbia.
“This collaboration stems for the shared value of protecting the environment and our seas,” said Vito Spalluto, managing director at 7Pines Resort Sardinia.
Since its inception, Kampos has made responsibility one of its guiding principles, sourcing only regenerated and recyclable materials for its swimming trunks, bikinis and resortwear designs for men and women, including cotton T-shirts, chino pants and linen caftans.
As a B Corp., it has also linked with environmental initiatives, most recently supporting the Coral Reef Restoration Project and the Svalbard Climate Change Project.
The brand currently counts 15 flagships in Italy’s Porto Cervo, Forte dei Marmi, Santa Margherita Ligure, Porto Rotondo, San Pantaleo, Alassio and at the Olbia Costa Smeralda airport. It directly runs a store in Ibiza, Spain, and operates two doors at the Diamonds Thudufushi and Diamonds Athuruga resorts in the Maldives via a partnership with Planhotel Hospitality Group and one on South Korea’s Jeju island via a linkup with a local partner.
As reported, last year Kampos sold a 35 percent interest to private capital and venture capital funds Mega Holding, Cherry Bay Capital Group and Pambianco Invest Club. Strategic investors Ulixes Capital Partners and Fenix also participated in the transaction, whose financial details were not disclosed.
In the aftermath of the acquisition, the brand, debuted as a retail-ready and direct-to-consumer brand, boosted its wholesale exposure via a deal with Italian showroom and wholesale distributor Emodastudio.
