Taipei Fashion Week has always been a proponent of cross-border collaboration between fashion and culture. In previous seasons, the event spotlighted arts, indigenous culture, and traditional crafts.
The year’s event brought together a fusion of creativity and fashion, showcasing the latest trends and innovations in Taiwan’s streetwear scene while celebrating the cultural diversity and creativity of the younger generation.
Participating brands in this opening show included (A)crypsis, 67Arrow, ANoWhereMan, Just In XX, Plateau Studio, and oqLiq.
(A)crypsis and 67Arrow decided to discard the traditional runway format, opting instead for a dance battle where dancers donned their respective brand’s designs. Just In XX took an experimental approach to fashion design, using AI-generated characters to set the storyline for their presentation.
Plateau Studio, known for its refreshing three-dimensional cuts and prints on streetwear, collaborated with renowned graffiti artist Reach to create live street art, while OqLiq drew inspiration from comics and worked with a 3D animation artist and a cartoonist to transform comic elements into streetwear fashion.
Lastly, ANoWhereMan blended the spirit of rock music with contemporary elements, using innovative materials and shapes to craft a distinctive retro youth style.
Taipei Fashion Week, organized by the Ministry of Culture, will continue through October 22.
