The deep red hue of burgundy adds a richness that is perfectly placed for the cosy nature of autumn. Blending with the natural background, as leaves begin to brown and the days darken, this expensive-looking hue comes into its own. No matter the price point of a purchase, each time I add a splash of burgundy into my outfit builds, I’m always asked “where did you get that”. Unlike our neutrals, burgundy remains a rarer shade to spot on the streets, and right now burgundy hues are trending for autumn. Whilst chocolate brown and beige camels have their time and place, burgundy always adds a little oomph where other neutrals blend in.
The further brilliance of burgundy is that it works with so many other colours. Of course, neutrals are an easy pairing, but there’s no need to stop there. The brown mix with the red lends burgundy to work well with gold metals and soft rust hues too. Classic denim always works, and the blend of red and blue is a particularly striking one. You can go bold and create an entirely monochromatic burgundy look. If you’re easing in, even the addition of a bag or shoe can be enough to push the whole outfit into the expensive-looking world that burgundy promises.
