When a customer in Las Vegas gives you carte blanche to build an off-roading 991-generation Porsche 911, you pull out all the stops. At least you do if you’re Joey Seely, owner of E-Motion Engineering. There is something of an off-roader craze going on in sports car land right now, in case you hadn’t noticed, and this so-called Turbo Safari is maybe the best of them. With all-wheel drive, increased ride height, improved approach and departure angles, a relatively short wheelbase, and plenty of tractable power, this could well be the greatest off roader ever. Okay, maybe that’s hyperbole, but you understand.
In this video Joey is out giving the nearly-finished project an off-road shakedown to prepare it for final delivery. As one of the premier Porsche shops in the world with extremely expensive builds, he wants to make sure all of the kinks are worked out before handing it back to the owner. This kind of thing can’t be treated as any old tuner car, it has to respond and act exactly as if Porsche had built it.
In case you are having E-Motion Engineering build a car for you, and you need someone to shake it down for a year or so, I’d be happy to volunteer. Whether it’s a safari build, a mega off-road Cayenne, a 935, or a Pikes Peak race car, I’m sure I’ll find a way to break it before you can. That way it’ll have all of the breaking out of its system before you take over and enjoy the rest of your life with the car trouble-free. That’s how cars work, in case you didn’t know.
Either way, I’m sure I’d have fun with it.
