Aspen, Colorado beat out New York City as the American fashion capital this holiday season. As the stars flocked to the slopes, they brought their impeccable après ski wardrobes.
An impressive coterie of coats was to be expected. Hailey Bieber rocked both long and short styles, wearing a gray ankle-length shearling Ferragamo to dinner and shorter brown and black jacket during the day, which she paired with a miniskirt and sheer tights. Kendall Jenner trekked through the streets of Aspen in a white furry trench coat, a dramatic, shoulder-padded Balenciaga, and her beloved Phoebe Philo tricolor. Between Jenner’s Balenciaga and Nina Dobrev’s grayscale Perfect Moment coat, chevrons also had a moment this holiday season.
Rihanna took a more Western approach to her snow attire. The singer kept it simple and cozy in a heather gray hoodie and light wash denim, which she spiced up with a white blazer, baby blue boots, and a brown cowboy hat with turquoise embellishment.
Arguably nobody had a better time in Aspen than the queen of the season herself, Mariah Carey. The Christmas diva eschewed quiet luxury in favor of some bolder patterns and labels. In one outing, she wore a Burberry capelet in the brand’s signature plaid, along with leather pants, matching earmuffs, and oversized sunglasses befitting a Y2K revival. In another outfit, she played with monochrome in sequined leggings, a shearling vest, knee-high Christian Louboutin boots, and a Chanel beanie—complete with the interlocking Cs.
Regardless of personal preference, it’s undeniable that Aspen was the place to see and be seen this holiday season.
