There’s now a cheaper way to get unlimited mobile data

Since first launching in 2020, felix mobile has just expanded its plan range beyond just one option. Previously the telco only offered a $35 per month option with unlimited data but speeds were consistently capped at 25Mbps. But now felix’s plans include a $25 per month option with 25GB or a $30 per month option with 50GB.

Both these plans are free from excess charges and instead, offer unlimited data capped at speeds of 1.5Mbps once you go over your primary data allowance. The plans are limited to 4G, but the primary data allowance isn’t subject to any speed caps.

For data-hungry users, you have the option to add 10GB of full-speed data for an additional $10 if you need it. Alternatively, you can also save your data with felix’s data banking feature.

What hasn’t changed from the original plan is that felix will still plant one tree per month for each subscriber and both are compatible with felix’s international roaming and calling add-ons. And better yet, when customers bank more data than they can use, 20GB can be donated to plant an extra tree.

And for those who enjoyed unlimited data with felix, don’t be disheartened. The Vodafone-powered telco still offers an unlimited plan, however, it now costs $40 per month — up from $35 and is still capped at 20Mbps. All existing customers on this plan will continue to pay $35 per month.

felix’s $30 per month plan is great value for money but here’s how it compares to plans of other telcos offering similar plans with at least 50GB:

When you consider its promo offer, TPG is a strong alternative. New customers will pay just $20 per month for 60GB for the first six months. While this will increase to $40 per month thereafter, you’re still getting 10GB extra for $10 per month extra. This is when you’d need to weigh up if you prefer to save some cash or have that extra data. TPG is also powered by the Vodafone network.

Another option is to take advantage of Optus-powered telco Dodo’s current double data offer. When applied to its $25 per month plan, you’ll get 50GB for the first six months.
