Motorists are advised to use alternative routes as several roads around the Union Buildings in Tshwane will be closed for the presidential inauguration on Wednesday, 19 June.
ROAD CLOSURES AROUND THE UNION BUILDINGS
The Presidential inauguration is expected to be attended by Cyril Ramaphosa, the president-elect of the Republic of South Africa, foreign heads of State, invited guests, and members of the public.
Ramaphosa was duly elected during the first sitting of the National Assembly at the Cape Town International Convention Centre on Friday, 14 June.
His re-election follows in the footsteps of Thabo Mbeki and Jacob Zuma, who were also two-term presidents. However, Mbeki and Zuma did not complete their terms as both were recalled before completing their tenures.
Ramaphosa’s re-election as president also comes on the back of a coalition announcement between the ANC and Democratic Alliance.
Road Closures around the Union Buildings will be implemented from 3:00 on Wednesday, 19 June, until 6:00 on Thursday, 20 June.
