Three people winched to safety by police near Bluff Knoll in third rescue this month

Three people have been rescued from Bluff Knoll after they were stranded on Saturday night, marking the third rescue effort in three weeks.

Emergency services were contacted at 7pm on Saturday by a female hiker who had become lost near Bluff Knoll in the Stirling Range National Park.

The hiker, a 32-year-old woman, was in a group with two other hikers, a 71-year-old man and a 56-year old woman.

The trio were uninjured.

The group advised Gnowangerup Police they had adequate equipment and supplies to camp overnight in the Range.

Police Air Wing arrived at the location at around 10.30am on Sunday and successfully performed a winch rescue operation.

The hiking group were transferred to a location near Chester Pass Road where they received assessment by St John WA Ambulance.

A man in his 20s was rescued from Bluff Knoll on April 3 after falling sick and stopping on to two kilometres from the Bluff Knoll carpark.

Another man in his 20s was also rescued from Bluff Knoll on March 30 after falling sick.

Four teenagers were rescued from the peak in 2023 by the RAC helicopter after they became stranded overnight in September in freezing conditions.
