Tigers Player Makes Awkward Comment About Abraham Lincoln

Detroit Tigers pitch Beau Brieske had an awkwardly worded way of explaining why he would’ve liked to meet Abraham Lincoln during Sunday’s game.

The Tigers took on the the New York Yankees in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, for this year’s Little League Classic. In addition to hanging out with Little League players, the major leaguers taped player introductions typically seen during the Little League World Series. Those introductions were revealed at the beginning of the broadcast, showing stars from both teams answering various questions about themselves.

Yankees outfielder Juan Soto revealed that his favorite food is Dominican. Yankees infielder Ben Rice, on the other hand, said his favorite food is his father’s pancakes. Tigers pitcher Jason Foley’s favorite food is simply pizza.

When the players were asked about one person — dead or alive — they’d like to meet, Brieske’s response was the 16th President of the United States. Considering Lincoln is one of the most significant figures in the history of the country, that answer wasn’t entirely unsurprising.

Brieske’s reasoning, however, was worded in a very unfortunate way.

“One person I would love to meet: Abraham Lincoln,” Brieske said. “I’d just like to pick his brain, to be quite honest with you. That sounds bad now that I say it.”

Lincoln was famously shot in the head by John Wilkes Booth in 1865. He died hours later.
