TODD CANTWELL has revealed how tunnel vision has brought the title back to within sight for Rangers.
From eight points behind, a resurgent Gers can go top of the table on Tuesday night with a 3-0 win over Aberdeen.
Cantwell — who scored in the 3-0 win over Livi — had no idea the summit was so close, after boss Philippe Clement ordered his players to focus only on themselves.
The Ibrox side looked dead and buried when the Belgian took over last October, but they will go top for the first time if they win by three or more on Tuesday.
Cantwell said: “I wasn’t actually aware of that.
“The message inside is we are tunnel vision at the minute. It is important to have it.
“We were in a position where we were chasing, and the most important thing when you are chasing is just to have tunnel vision.
“Don’t look around, you don’t need to know what is going on elsewhere.
“The mentality I think was always there.
“When you lose the first game of the season against Kilmarnock, it is a massive disappointment for us, and it is a massive boost for them.
“We know how that works, let’s not be stupid.
“So at the start of the season it looked like it was a one-horse race.
“It is really important what the manager has said from the moment he walked in.
“We are not interested about what is going on elsewhere.
“If we do what we do we will find ourselves in a really good position.”
After Celts dropped two points at Pittodrie Gers steamrolled Livi to move within three.
Clement’s side still have a game in hand — with the Rangers fans daring to dream again.
Cantwell added: “It is good for the fans to be excited about things like that, but as players you are professional for a reason.
“There is a lot of football left to play. We knew that when the manager came in.
“We are going to keep doing what we are doing and let’s see where we end up.
“It is for the fans to be excited. We are obviously excited about it, we know what we want to do.
“We know what we set out to do at the start of the season.
“It didn’t start great for us, but I have said all along, it is a long season.
