Top-performing township schools in Gauteng

Gauteng’s educational landscape is beaming with pride as top-performing schools in the province showcased stellar matric results in the recently released 2023 National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams.

On Friday, 19 January, more than 890 000 full-time and part-time candidates received their results, revealing an overall national pass rate of 82.9%, according to the Department of Basic Education (DBE) Minister Angie Motshekga.

Minister Motshekga expressed her congratulations to learners, acknowledging their exceptional achievements in the NSC exams.

“I want to congratulate you and say thank you for making us very proud. Is it not so parents? You have made us really proud. For that, we’re really grateful to our children,” Motshekga added during the announcement.

On Friday, 19 January, the Gauteng Province announced the provincial matric results, recognising and awarding the top-performing learners and schools in the 2023 National Senior Certificate examinations.

Top performing township schools in Gauteng

The spotlight also falls on the top township schools in Gauteng, where remarkable performances were recorded:

  1. Raymond Mhlaba Secondary School – Johannesburg West District
  2. Diepsloot Combined School – Johannesburg North District
  3. Kgatoentle Secondary School – Tshwane West District

These schools have not only demonstrated academic excellence but have also become beacons of success within their respective districts.

Looking ahead, Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi and Education MEC Matome Chiloane are poised to celebrate the achievements further.

On Sunday, 21 January, they will award GCRA bursaries to the province’s top-performing matriculants from no-fee paying schools, fostering a culture of academic accomplishment and providing opportunities for future success.
