Topman links with the Ashmolean Museum for arts capsule

The ASOS-owned Topman brand has announced an interesting collaboration that shows art links aren’t only for the upper end of the market.

It has partnered with the Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology in Oxford, England for a collaborative collection “that creates a capsule curated from artworks in the Museum’s extensive collection”.

The Ashmolean has a high profile and is a tourist magnet. It was actually Britain’s first-ever public museum and was erected in 1678–1683 to house the cabinet of curiosities that Elias Ashmole gave to the University of Oxford in 1677.

So what does the AW23 capsule comprise? It celebrates the museum’s “rich heritage and artworks through a bespoke collection”.

The focus is on T-shirts and other topwear featuring monochrome or colourful allover and placement prints of various artworks from historic sculptures to paintings.

And the e-tailer has shot a supporting campaign inside the museum itself with the model positioned among those historic pieces, further underlining the art link-up.

Prices range from £30 for oversized-fit T-shirts up to £50 for sweatshirts and £70 for a hoodie.
